On July 25 Gyumri State Technical College with the assistance of “South Caucasus Railway” opened a new teaching and training ground. The opening ceremony was attended by the Minister of Education and Science Armen Ashotyan, CEO of CJSC "SCR" Victor Rebets, Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications Hrant Beglaryan, vice-governor of Shirak region Harutyun Arshakyan, Head of Federal Agency "Rossotrudnichestvo" in Armenia Viktor Krivopuskov, Consul General of the Russian Federation Vasiliy Korchmar to Gyumri, and other officials. Guests of the opening of the new ground made a brief tour of the college viewing the technical capabilities of the institution.
As the minister of Education and Science Armen Ashotyan noted at the opening ceremony the cooperation between SCR and Gyumri College would provide a good foundation and model for establishing similar contacts between companies and other educational institutions. The head of the Ministry stressed that the Government of the Republic paid special attention to the field of specialized education and the preparation of qualified staff.
The CEO of CJSC “SCR” Victor Rebets noted that the Company had paid special attention to training, developing corporation with the leading Armenian and Russian Universities since the first day of work in Armenia. Moreover, as assured V. Rebets SCR would develop its cooperation with the Gyumri College, in particular, the school planned to equip a workplace for train dispatcher.
“We also give the students with the opportunity of interactive learning through video conferencing with our experts in Yerevan”, - said Victor Rebets.
With the help of SCR a contact network, a railroad of 10 meters are laid out on the ground; an automatic coupling, a bogie, turnouts, carriage hardware and a compressor are installed, as well as other parts and equipment necessary for organizing the educational process.
The ground is fully equipped and will be used for teaching the students of Grumri College, as well as the employees of CJSC “SCR” directed to this school for retraining and skills development.
