The delegation of South Caucasus Railway headed by the CEO Victor Rebets attends the 59th meeting of the Council for Rail Transport of the Commonwealth in Chisinau (Republic of Moldova) which opened yesterday.
The Armenian delegation included Deputy Director of SCR on Interaction and logistics Oleg Shatalov, the head of the department of international relations and cooperation with the administrative bodies Alexander Boiko, the head of the railway division of the Ministry of Transport and Communication of Armenia Arsen Hovhannisyan.
The meeting was attended also by the heads of railway administrations of the Russian Federation, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine and Uzbekistan, as well as the associate members of the Council - the heads of the railways of Georgia, Latvia, Bulgaria and Finland.
Also at the meeting the representatives of the railway administrations of Lithuania, Estonia and Iran, the CIS Executive Committee of the International Union of Railways (UIC) are present.
The Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Economy of the Republic of Moldova Valeriu Lazar greeted the participants. He noted that the challenges faced by the railway authorities were very similar. These are, above all, to improve the quality of services, the competitiveness of railways, which was directly connected with the development of their economies.
Director General of the International Union of Railways Jean -Pierre Loubinoux drew attention to the fact that the union of railways in association allows them to actively develop cooperation in the field of security and interoperability of technical systems.
Chairman of the Directorate of the Council for Rail Transport of the Commonwealth Peter Kucherenko summed up the work of the organization since the 58th meeting in Dushanbe (Tajikistan ) in May of this year. According to him 64 meetings of committees are held and working groups with the participation of representatives of the railway administrations had drafted amendments to a number of regulations. So, agreed changes to the Regulation on the extension of the term of freight cars plying on international routes, Dangerous freight Regulations, Rules of transportation of liquid cargoes in tank cars and hopper cars for transportation of bitumen type.
The agenda of the 59th session of the Council are expected to consider a range of issues, including the results of the operational work of the rail network for the first 9 months of 2013, standards of train schedule for 2014/2015 year, results of the census of freight cars and containers, the implementation of the Agreement on a uniform system and the use of freight wagons.
The second day of the 59th session of the Council on November 20th will be held under the chairmanship of the President of JSC "Russian Railways" Vladimir Yakunin.
