The volume of SCR freight traffic in January – April amounted 898.5 thousand tons, 2% up over the same period on 2011.
In the first four months SCR transported 133.3 thousand tons of cargo in export which is 21.6% over the same period of 2011.
The volume of cargo in import traffic is 342.7 thousand tons, 12.4% lower than in January – April last year. During the reporting period 2012 in the local traffic the railway transported 422.5 thousand tons of cargo, 11.1% up compared to January – April 2011.
It should be noted that according to statistical data the average weight of a freight train increased by 6.9% reaching 1436 tons against last year’s 1343 tons.
Compared to 2011 April, in April 2012 the volume of SCR freight traffic increased by 3.1 %. In export traffic in the cargo nomenclature were leading non-ferrous ore (4.9 thousand tons), ferrous metal scrap (4.7 thousand tons), and cement (3.9 thousand tons) in particular. In April 2012 in import traffic were leading sugar (25.6 thousand tons), grain cargoes (18.3 thousand tons), oil products (16.2 thousand tons), chemical and mineral fertilizers (4.5 thousand tons). In the local traffic were leading non-ferrous ores (98.5 tons), construction materials (33.5 thousand tons) corn and grain weights (4.1 thousand tons).
The railway is gradually increasing key performance indicators, including the volume of freight traffic. We achieved these results thanks to SCR flexible tariff policy aimed at reducing transport costs in the price of the transporting goods.
