The volume of freight of CJSC "South Caucasian Railway" in the January-May 2012 amounted to 1243.7 thousand tons, up 8.4% over the same period in 2011.
In the first five months of 2012 SCR transported 179.3 thousand tons of cargo in export which is over the same period in 2011 to 21.9%.
The volume of cargo in import traffic was 478.3 thousand tons, which is 1.4% lower than in January-May of last year. In local traffic during the reporting period of 2012 through railway 586.1 thousand tons of cargo were transported, 13.9% more than in January-May 2011.
It should be noted that according to statistical data, by 7% increased the average weight of a freight train, reaching 1 441 tons against last year's 1347 tons.
It is important that compared with May 2011 in May 2012 the volume of SCR freight traffic increased by 29.9%. The volume of export traffic increased by 22.7%, import by 44.6%, and local by 21.7%.
The railway is gradually increasing key performance indexes, including the volume of cargo. We achieved these results thanks to SCR flexible tariff policy aimed at reducing transport costs in the price of the goods transported.
